The Story: Alm-Hotel Forsthofalm in Leogang

A long, long time ago, when there was nothing more on the Forsthofalm except magnificent mountain pastures, we walked up the hills daily to take care of our cows, sheep, and goats, milked them and brought fresh milk back down to the valley.
 
"Every day, whether in the mornings or evenings, this wonderful paradise entranced us with the lush mountain pastures and rocky mountain ranges as a beautiful backdrop and of course the amazing mountain flora and fauna." 
 
Today we are pleased to let you take part in our dream at the Almrestaurant Hotel Forsthofalm. Enjoy with us this little piece of paradise.

History

1972 Our company was founded. We constructed the building ourselves with the help of numerous friends. There were 40 seats in our restaurant to start off with and no guestrooms at first.

1980 At our explicit request, the access road was built. Shortly afterwards, we had the idea of having a floodlit tobogganing run.

1982 Forsthofalm was extended: a second restaurant was built with a further 120-160 seats – later guest rooms were gradually added.

1996 Forsthofalm suffered a terrible fire. What the fire spared was destroyed by water used to fight the fire or by smoke.

1997 The summer following the catastrophe, we renovated our hotel-restaurant  and rebuilt it.

2008 We had the largest construction site for a wooden building in the Salzburg region for the first all-wooden hotel in the region.
